1965 Fender Precision Bass, this one is a stunner! Gorgeous Body refinish in Lacquer by Fiesta Finishes™. The neck is also refinished. The bass is otherwise 100% original, including the original, Nitrate White Guard, used only on Custom Color instruments during 1965. This bass was originally red from the factory. The nitrate guard has taken on a gorgeous amber patina over the years, which is a wonderful complement to the Fiesta Red finish.
Note that the guard has a small repair on the horn tip, and the original frets are somewhat worn, but very playable.
The bass plays and sounds awesome, as you would expect from an L-Series Fender Precision from this era with original Grey Bottom pickups.
The serial number is L80XXX. The neck date is MAY 65. Pots are coded 304 6520. The bass weighs a very light 8.2 lbs. The neck measures .816" at 1st fret and .984" at 12th fret, making this a medium "C" shaped neck typical of the period. The original pickup set measures a healthy 10.4K Ohms.
The bass comes in it's original, black Tolex, Fender "no logo" case, used in '64 and early '65.
