Description
The blackface era Fender Princeton Reverb-Amp is an iconic amplifier that has become one of the most desirable recording amps today. This versatile platform is just as comfortable at home, in the studio or at a gig. It’s powered by a pair of 12ax7 preamp tubes driving two 6v6 power tubes making about 12 watts of power. It’s tube rectified and uses a 12at7 and 7025 to drive the spring reverb and tremolo section. The 10″ speaker is housed in a fingerjointed solid Pine cabinet for tone and ease of portability. Unlike the reissue, the original Princeton Reverb is all hand wired using an eyelet board to keep everything clean. The resulting amplifier boasts big cleans, smooth overdriven tones, classic Fender reverb and some of the finest tremolo around.

This 1967 Fender Princeton Reverb-Amp has just been serviced and is ready to go. We purchased it from the original owner along with a ’66 Fender Jazzmaster. It appears that this one was warranty serviced in 1973 when it received a new power transformer (export model so it can be easily wired for 220a service!), new capacitor can, new power tubes, rectifier tube, and 12AX7 tube in V1. We took it to the tech and he installed a three prong power cord for safety, new reverb tank, and one resistor. Now it’s in excellent playing condition and sounds killer! The original large magnet Jensen C10NA (the best PR speaker!) sounds great too. The output transformer and choke appear to be original to the amp but the OT has a date code of 606-813 (13th week of ’68). It’s possible that it was stamped incorrectly or that the amp wasn’t fully assembled until early 1968. We’re confident you’ll love the tone and playability of this blackface Fender Princeton Reverb-Amp!
