Description
Up for sale, a 1969 Fender Pro Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Providing the general tonal character of a Twin Reverb, but boasting a tube rectifier and more manageable 40 watts of power, the Pro Reverb is a 2x12 amplifier with enough volume for large ensemble situations and the perfect balance between shimmering cleans and smooth, touch sensitive overdrive. The perfect platform for effects pedals, the cleans on this Pro are balanced, clear, and warm. Of course once you reach around 5 on the volume dial, things start to compress slightly, and you get that dynamic, glassy sound that adds just the right amount of grit to your tone. This amp was produced at the very beginning of the shift to Silverface cosmetics, with the "drip edge" aluminum trim and thin black vertical lines on the faceplate indicative of an amp that still has an unchanged Blackface AA165 circuit under the hood! Very original and well maintained, this Pro Reverb is ready for stage and studio use!

The circuit is very original and recently serviced, with all original transformers that date between late 1967 and very early '69. The stock CTS pots are all intact as well, dating to late '67, and the chassis stamp notes a 1968 build date as well. The amp retains all of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors which are a hallmark of the Blackface tone, and the amp boasts a complete recap of the main filter caps and smaller bypass caps, all with top notch Sprague and F&T capacitors. The power tubes are a pair of vintage USA made General Electric 6L6 values that sound particularly sweet and well balanced. The speakers are a pair of era correct Fender labeled Oxford 12L6 speakers which date to 1973 and match original factory spec for this model. This particular Fender/Oxford speaker pair has been recently tested, with one original speaker cone and one fresh recone. The circular blue foil stickers on the ceramic magnets are modern reissues.

The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth is intact and in great shape, showing only light wear and still looking surprisingly clean after nearly 50 years. The cloth has only very faint aging, and the tolex shows only faint wear on the the edges of the enclosure. The stock hardware is in great shape as well including original tilt back legs, chassis straps, corners and handle.

This Pro Reverb has a properly biased pair of vintage 6L6 power tubes, a very original and well maintained circuit, and sounds every bit as good as a Blackface Fender should!
