Summary: Very little changed about the Stratocaster for the production year of 1963. Sales were still extremely strong, and the Stratocaster continued to etch out its place as the one of the world's most popular and iconic instruments. Some very minor changes seen in 1963 include a subtle shift in the shape of the pickup selector switch and a change in the location of the pickguard screw above the front two pickups. Also, by 1963 the "veneer" style of Rosewood fingerboard had become standard. This particular 1963 Fender Stratocaster has all the wear in all the right places! It is amazing to hold this Strat up next to a “Nash” relic or a custom shop Fender relic & see that those guitars are trying to look exactly like this old one does. This one also has a wonderful natural resonance even when you don’t plug it in. This Strat has been expertly refretted with larger fret-wire for optimal playing ability, easy bends and precise note clarity. It also ships in its original hardshell case with original bridge cover and whammy bar.

Body: Solid alder body Stratocaster with a naturally aged finish & tons of resonance & tone and original translucent 3 tone sunburst.

Neck: Maple neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, 25.5” scale length, 1 9/16” nut width, 21 frets, clay dot inlays.

Pickups/Hardware: 3 single coil pickups, 5-way replacement switch (original 3-way is also included), 1 volume knob, 2 tone knobs, original W/B/W pickguard, original vintage Kluson Deluxe tuning keys.

Cosmetics: This vintage Fender has all the classic wear in all the perfect spots. The back of the neck is worn down, particularly around the first few positions, lots of arm wear around the top of the body, nicks & dings around the input jack and very cool checking throughout the instrument.

Playability: This guitar plays & sounds like a dream from Fender heaven – it was a breeze to set up with a new set of 10’s and the neck fits any hand like a glove. Thanks to the wonderful refret, this guitar plays with all the ease of a modern guitar and tone of a real deal vintage Pre CBS strat. The action is low & comfortable & the notes are all ringing out fully.

Modifications: Changed bone nut, replacement Trem block, aftermarket 5-way pickup selector switch (original switch included) and new frets. The middle pickup has been rewound with 64 spec plain enamel pickup wire. The rest of the pickup is original.

Weight: 7 lbs, 8 oz.

Case: This awesome Fender comes with the original Fender brown tolex case and the original 3-way switch, bridge cover and whammy bar.
