1972 Fender Stratocaster in a really cool refin DAKOTA RED FINISH in overall very good condition, with newer molded Fender hardshell case, serial number 356xxx. This vintage 1972 Strat has some changes, but is a really nice player in a very very cool custom color. This is a 3 bolt, single string tree Strat - neck date is February of 1972. She's been refretted, and the tuners are reissue 'F stamp' 70s style tuners, which are the correct look, cosmetically - a couple small filled screw holes are visible . Neck may have been oversprayed at some point - though it's possible the finish may be original- hard to tell for sure, though the front of the headstock has a 'matte' vibe to it. There is black shielding paint in the cavities, and the area below the bridge pickup has been deepened slightly, see photo. She was refinished in what is close to a DAKOTA RED - it's a really nice and very vibrant color. It's a pretty good old refin - there is some orange peel texture to the finish, but not too bad - and there are some dinks and scratches here and there. The bridge saddles are the older type (not molded), and note that the trem arm, at some point, was broken off in the bridge so a trem arm cannot be screwed in, currently. She has her original 3 way switch, and at least two of the pots are old - one may have been replaced. Date stamps are hard to read on the back sides of the grey bottom pickups, but this is what we know: the neck pickup is either a 75 or 77 (hard to read), and the poles are flat. The middle pickup is a 74, again flat poles. The bridge pickup is likely an original 1972, rare 4 digit-stamped 8102, grey bottom, has staggered poles, and has been rewound - and sounds GREAT. This is one of the best sounding 70s bridge pickups i have heard - lots of bite and strong output. When combined, these pickups produce those classic 70s Strat tones – lots of quack and brightness and funkiness. It's a trademark early 70s Strat tone. This is a great chance to own a 72 Strat with some changes in a super cool color - larger photos are available, just call - 859-261-5500 for an in hand description. Thanks.<
