1974 Stratocaster Black / Maple
A refretted '74 Stratocaster that can be played with gusto!
The Stratocaster specification change was made in late 1971, which was a big turning point for the Stratocaster.
The neck, which used to be held in place by a 4-point screw, was now held in place by a 3-point screw, and a micro-tilt was installed to adjust the angle of the neck.
The one-piece maple neck was restored, and the fingerboard was now available in rose or maple.
Other major specification changes followed, such as a bullet nut, and in 1972, the bridge and tremolo block became one piece.
In late 1974, the pickup pole piece was switched to a flat pole piece, but this one is equipped with a staggered pole piece pickup.
The clean and clear sound has a different character from the 60's, and the contours of each string are conveyed honestly.
It has an aggressive treble range that pierces the ear, but when distorted, the midrange is lifted and the sound can be conveyed without losing the contours of the chord and arpeggio playing.
This is the true 70's Strat sound!
