Description
Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Classic '50s reissue Stratocaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Finished in custom color Dakota Red, this Strat was crafted in Fender's Ensenada, Mexico factory and has the aesthetics of Fender's golden era, with undeniably clear and crisp single coil tone. With a five-way pickup selector switch, there's a wide range of tones on tap, with bite and chime in the bridge position, and more girthy tones at the neck that are equally defined. The 2 and 4 positions on the switch deliver the quack and scooped cut that has made these settings preferred secret weapon sounds of Strat players for decades. This guitar weighs in at 8lbs 4oz and has great attack and surprising sustain for a Fender instrument! Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Strat is strung with fresh 10-46 strings and has low, comfortable action.

The one-piece maple neck has a well rounded soft V profile, with a high gloss finish and 7 1/2" vintage radius on the fretboard. The vintage-style fretwire is in great shape, showing only faint wear in the first position beneath the G and B strings, with sparingly little wear further up the neck, and no buzzing or dead spots. The nut has a traditional 1 5/8" width and the headstock boasts Gotoh made Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the guitar has a vintage spec one-ply white pickguard and lightly aged cream pickup covers, knobs, and switch tip. The vibrato unit has a full size tremolo block for greater sustain and optimal tone, with three springs currently installed, allowing for everything from subtle surfy warbles to deeper dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. The neck pocket has all of the correct date stamps and factory markings, matching the 2002 date of production noted on the serial number on the back of the headstock. The guitar was at one time fitted with a different pickguard, so there are a couple extra mounting holes covered by the current pickguard, and the single-ply white backplate is a genuine Fender part, but non-original, with the majority of the screw holes lining up as they should. Cosmetically, this rare Dakota Red finish is in very good shape, with some light finish scratches and dings, mostly relegated to the back of the guitar, as well as one notable chip in the finish just south of the knobs.

The original padded Fender gigbag is included.
