Offered for sale;

Used 1979 Fender Stratocaster serial number S938503.

Relic Shmelic!!! If fender tried to fake this one it would cost you over 3 grand.

This workhorse has a real story (not one made up in Hollywood Arizona). And we can only imagine what that story was, when it happened and in what order.

Here’s how it stands now.
This guitar is in good condition and if you are judging it by “relic” standards it’s in great condition.

The neck is straight and a re-fret has been performed; cosmetically there is much to say.

The Body:
Ash, stripped down to the bare wood. Carved in the top are the letters “PLA” plus a mostly unreadable signature and a red staff/G-clef stamp. This along with a variety of burn marks, words, sticker remnants, bangs and scratches give it patina thru the roof.

The Neck:
As Dear Old Dad used to say “Glued, screwed and tattooed!”
Glued - The scroll of the headstock was broken off. (Have you ever seen a Fender neck break? What a night!). But this feat could only be done at the neck’s most vulnerable and least structural location, just above the logo. It was glued back. The glue job was in keeping with the rest of the guitar, a mess, but fully functional.
Screwed – It was converted from a 3 bolt to a 4 bolt neck.
Tattooed – The word “ARCH” is etched/burned into the back of the headstock.

In addition, the finish was removed from the front and back of the neck but not the headstock (although it looks like they may have started at the tip and gave up). And it’s been re-fretted.

The pickups:
To round things off it has 2 Seymour Duncan Little ’59 humbucking pickups in the neck and middle position. They keep things warm and full. There is a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails Neck pickup in the bridge position. Don’t worry, the Hot Rails Neck is plenty hot to be a bridge pickup when teamed up with two Little ‘59s and there’s noticeable quack in the bridge/middle position.

And what mod on a ‘70s guitar would be complete without the ubiquitous brass saddles? Not this one.

And when you get it, you can do anything you want!

All this for less than a used American Standard.

If you’re a “rough rider” or have an affinity for the “hard road” in life; this strat could be right up your alley.

Hard shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
