1964 Fender Super Reverb 1964

Vintage 1964 (first year) Fender Super Reverb serial number A00470.

This amp is in very good to excellent condition, mostly original and cosmetically quite nice. There are some minor scuffs and wear, some light tarnishing of the brightwork, overall showing usage and a nice amount of patina.

The 10” Webers are obviously not original. It appears that the non-original power transformer was put inside the original 1963 Schumacher power transformer shell. Also, the cutout in the chassis for the power transformer was slightly enlarged. Why do that if you’re using the original shell? Maybe someone first attempted to install a different transformer?

It has been professionally recapped.

The AB763 Super Reverb is a very popular Fender amp due to the robustness and the pure tone from the traditional blackface AB763 circuit design. Featuring 4-12AX7’s and 2-12AT7 pre-amp tubes, a 5AR4 (GZ34) rectifier and 2-6L6GC output tubes producing 40 watts. The AB763 design is also to be found in some silverface amps between 1967 and 1969. The later silverface circuits were changed further by CBS to become cleaner, harder and a little thinner sounding. The blackfaces have more growl and a sweet edgy cranked tone.

You can physically feel the dynamic response from one of the best vintage Fender amps of them all.

Non-original Fender footswitch is included.
