This one is a little tricky. The neck appears to be oversprayed but not the fingerboard. The body finish appears original but the two experts disagree-one says original, the other suspects overspray a very long time ago. It black lights perfectly and shows quite a lot of checking. There is a small area under the guard where the finish was removed-no idea why. My theory is that a previous owner was going to strip it and after having a look at the wood, decided not to. In which case, if it was refinished or oversprayed, why wouldn't they have sprayed over it? The nail holes under the guard are visible and open. The bridge pickup was changed out but I reinstalled the original that was in the case (lead wires were extended slightly). Original black guard. I've priced it somewhere between an all original and a full refinish. I think the body finish is original. Case is a '54 tweed in very good condition.
