Description

This is one of several Blackguards that belonged to the late, well known in some circles Ted Greene. He was a GREAT fingerstyle jazz session guy, teacher, and columnist. It weighs 7 lb, 5 oz and includes it's original flat bottom (some refer to as poodle) hard case, and even it's bridge cover. ALL components original with the exception of the switch tip (I'm including a PERIOD CORRECT one) and I haven't decided on the on the nut, but I'll make that determination soon.
Ted had a "thing" for experimenting with his guitars. He left this one pretty much alone EXCEPT for removing the lacquer on the end of neck (where pencil date is located, but it's dated in the cavity -SEE PHOTOS), He did this to (in his view) to achieve better contact with the body. In doing so he SLIGHTLY enlarged mounting holes in the body, but that's been painstakingly cleaned up by luthier extraordinaire Saul Kohl (again, SEE PHOTOS). It plays good (one of the "Goldylocks necks" from the period); Not huge and not small, just right, measuring in depth 0.91" at first fret, and 1.01" at twelfth. It also sounds like a blackguard should! If I was going to use it, I'd raise the bridge pickup a bit, but decided to leave that stuff to the next owner. It's a VERY COOL vintage guitar that looks and feels GREAT! I have a couple letters (Leon White, Ted;s producer) verifying it's history, along with one that's notarized. ** AGAIN - SEE PHOTOS (much can be answered there). Contact me with questions.
