Retrofret Stock # 7268. Fender Telecaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1956), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 08892, Blonde lacquer finish, ash body, maple neck, original tweed hard shell case. Overall length is 38 3/4 in. (98.4 cm.), 12 5/8 in. (32.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). This is a superbly well preserved example of a mid-50's Telecaster, colloquially known as a "whiteguard". There is light play wear in all the usual places, on the body edges and the lower fingerboard positions, with some checking and small dings and scrapes to the top and back. All parts are original, the only alteration is the original switch has been rewired to allow the standard front, rear and both pickup combinations-the original "mud cap" which acted to create a bass tonality on the neck pickup has been removed. This could be restored to absolutely original if desired but most players prefer the more adaptable "standard" sounds now available in this setup. A fantastic example of 1950's Fender goodness-This is one of those guitars that makes you play things you don't even expect the first time around! Overall Excellent Condition.
