No, it isn't a top loader so don't give up on it. It has the top loader bridge but it has the bushings on the back for through the body stringing. So, you can string it either way. Some 59's had it, some didn't. This is a really clean 59 with almost no wear at all. It has some all over fine checking and the usual edge dings but no significant player wear. You don't see many maple necks this clean and check out that birds eye figure. It is all original. There is one corner missing from the guard. The bridge cover/ashtray is missing. Body date is 3-59. There is no neck date which is typical for the era. This was an export model and was likely shipped (to Canada) without a case. The case is typical for the era (in Canada) and is very similar inside to the Selmer cases you see on European Strats. It is, according to the original owner, the original case. This is fabulous player. I strung it both ways and I liked the way it sounded top loaded but your ears aren't mine. It seemed a little brighter and twangier when top loaded-a little fatter when back loaded. It's back loaded now. Weigh 6 lbs 10 ounces.
