Description

circa 1961 Gibson Les Paul SG Cherry Solid Body Electric Guitar, Serial #15015. The 1961 Gibson Les Paul SG represents a pivotal moment in Gibson's history. This model was introduced as a radical redesign of the Les Paul, featuring a thinner, double-cutaway mahogany body with pointed horns, enhancing upper-fret access and making it one of Gibson's most ergonomic and aggressive designs. These early SG-style Les Pauls are particularly collectible, as by 1963, the Les Paul name was dropped entirely from the model, making these transitional guitars highly sought after. The PAF pickups, which remain untouched in this example, are some of the most revered humbuckers ever made, known for their clarity, warmth, and dynamic response. The unusually large font on the serial number raises intriguing questions about possible factory refurbishment. The PAF pickups remain undisturbed, and the electronics are original. The guitar has some minor nicks, dings, and scuffs, but it remains strikingly attractive. 6.6lbs. Original hard case included. Condition: Very Good. As an added bonus, the winning bidder on this lot will receive a VIP Meet and Greet experience as well as 2 VIP tickets to Criss's show in Las Vegas.
