Summary: In early 1951, Fender renamed its only production solid-body guitar the Telecaster, replacing the short-lived Broadcaster moniker used in late 1950. The Telecaster quickly became the guitar of its age, propelling the status of the solid-body electric guitar from novelty to the defining instrument of popular music. This particular Fender Telecaster has a wonderfully aged blonde finish with lots of natural wear, a nice broken in feeling maple neck and is a testament to Fenders ability to make a stellar guitar well into the CBS era. It ships in its original hard-shell case with original ash tray bridge cover.
Body: Solid body Telecaster with a naturally aged blonde finish & a three ply white/black/white pickguard.
Neck: One piece maple neck and fingerboard, black dot inlays, original Fender tuning keys, 21 frets, 25.5” scale length, 1 5/8” nut width, original Fender Logo.
Pickups/Hardware: 2 original single coil pickups, one volume knob, one tone knob, three way switch, chrome hardware, original Fender tuning keys and steel saddles.
Cosmetics: This vintage Fender Telecaster has all the right kinds of wear with lots of checking, several nicks and dings all over the body, lots of wear around the edges and tons of cool vintage character. The frets show lots of wear but they still have some life left in them. The fingerboard shows lots of wear around the edges, there is a bit of corrosion on the bridge and one of the string-through-ferrules was drilled a bit off but we believe this left the factory like that. All wear is consistent with a well-played and loved vintage guitar from the 1970’s.
Playability: We set this Fender up with a new set of 10’s and it plays & sounds great. The action is low and the truss rod is fully functional. The frets show some wear but they still have plenty of life left in them.
Modifications: There are strap lock style strap buttons installed on the guitar at the moment but the original strap buttons are in the case as well as strap locks.
Weight: 7 lbs, 15.5 oz
Case: This vintage Fender comes with the original hard-shell case but the case is in pretty rough shape. One of the latches is broken and has some duct tape holding it together & the handle looks like it has been replaced. The guitar does include the original ash tray cover!
