Up for sale, a 2004 Fender '70s reissue Telecaster with a rare Antigua finish in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan, this Tele is a discontinued model and a testament to the quality instruments produced by Fender Japan exclusive for the domestic Japanese market. As a result, these guitars are quite uncommon in the USA, and this particular example twangs and chimes with the best, delivering detailed snap in the bridge position, and smooth, more mellow singing tones at the neck. The guitar weighs in at 8lbs on the dot and has been professionally setup with 11-50 strings and low action.

The maple neck has a smooth gloss finish and medium C shaped profile that has just enough chunk and heft to feel substantial, while still accommodating smaller hands and chording with ease. The guitar boasts Fender's traditional 25 1/2" scale length, as well as a 7 1/4" fretboard radius, and 1 5/8" nut width. In terms of fretwire, these frets are nice and slender as per vintage spec, with perfectly rounded crowns and only a hint of wear beneath the plain strings in the first position. The neck is arrow straight with ideal relief, and the guitar plays well all the way up the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. On the headstock, the original Fender "F" tuning machines are intact, along with a block "Fender Telecaster" logo consistent with genuine '70s examples.

On the body, the green Antigua burst on the body is mirrored by the original pickguard and accented by chrome hardware. The electronics are stock, and the chrome plating on the control plate and three-saddle bridge is in excellent shape. Just above the four-bolt "F" neck plate, the "Crafted in Japan" designation and serial number is intact. Cosmetically, this guitar has been very well cared for since new, with only a few stray light scratches in the clear coat of the finish and no serious wear of any kind!

A brown tolex G&G hardshell case is included. This is the same case offered with Fender's American Vintage series instruments, and features a gold plush interior.
