Description

Clearly, I am in a late 60's Tele groove these days. Offered is yet another hand-selected example, in this case, a sweetie of a vintage Telecaster built in 1968.

This guitar, serial number 205696, has an alder body with a (custom color) Olympic White finish, a maple neck and a very desirable maple cap fingerboard. It has a neck date of August, 1968. The body finish, pickups, cloth wiring, solder joints and all the hardware are original to the guitar. Somewhere along the line this guitar got a very nice pro re-fret with medium fret wire. As such, I am also assuming that the neck was over-sprayed with nitro at that time and perhaps a new nut as well. This work was done exceptionally well.

This guitar was somebody's bread & butter tool for many years and you can quickly see why it wasn't given up more recently. It weighs an incredibly svelt 6 pounds, 12 ounces! Further, the neck measures .860" deep at the first fret, increasing to .920" at the twelfth fret. These measurements make this guitar fairly special when it comes to Teles of this (or most any) era.

This light weight chunk of alder and maple is resonant as hell and plays great. The pickups are vintage output and sound terrific as evidenced by the brief diddly of a sound sample included below. She has a great twang to my ear.

The finish on the body of this guitar is well worn from years of play, with plenty of finish scuffing, edge wear and dings. I've included photos of the worst of the body wear. The neck is smooth and fast playing with plenty of fret life remaining (70% approximately). It comes in a vintage Fender/G&G case of similar era that is in very good condition.

Vintage Telecaster seem to be my thing these days, as evidenced by the several I currently have in stock. Buying a vintage Fender electric is a fun way to invest your hard earned money! Make this sweet vintage Tele yours today!
