Description
Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Vibro Champ in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This amp has been thoroughly serviced so as to be reliable for stage and studio use, with a complete recap of the main power supply, and a few upgraded caps in the preamp as well to ensure that this amp is operating perfectly within factory spec. Very original in all the ways that count, this Vibro Champ has a smooth, responsive clean tone at lower volumes, and a dynamic, sizzling overdrive when you push this Class A five watt circuit to its limit. Few amps are as beloved for their simplicity and intuitive control layout. With a Volume control, responsive and easy to dial in EQ knobs, and a couple controls for the tremolo effect, it's hard to beat the Vibro Champ. The bias based tremolo circuit has a great range of speeds and the intensity can be dialed in for a soft sputter or throaty chop with the twist of a knob

The circuit retains the original Schumacher transformers, which both date to 1966. The recap of the main power supply was done with great care, retaining the original large can cap, and building a small, discreet eyelet board for the new filter caps in the available space inside the chassis. The original CTS pots are intact and date to 1966, and the partially intact tube chart (typically the most recent date on a Blackface Fender) dates the amp to April of 1967 with a "QD" stamp. The speaker is the factory spec Oxford 8" driver for this amp which has just been professionally reconed and even has the "Fender" name stamped on the alnico magnet bell. While this speaker is correct for the amp in terms of specifications, ohmage, and wattage handling, the date code is from 1978. The amp has also been upgraded with a three-prong power cable.

The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, and all of the original hardware is accounted for as well, including the raised Fender logo with tail, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, corners, and handle caps. Both back panels are original too. There are a few scuffs and light signs of wear on the tolex, and the grillcloth has aged modestly over the decades. While the faceplate is original and boasts stock witch hat knobs, it also shows some light pitting and some scattered scratches.

This vintage Fender Vibro Champ comes from one of the most highly regarded eras of Fender craftsmanship, and this particular amp has been thoroughly serviced for years of trouble-free use.
