1964 Fender® Vibroverb Very Good,

Just in from the family of the original owner – a very rare 1964 Fender Vibroverb-Amp! Premier Guitar Magazine describes the 1964 Fender Vibroverb as the “bedrock of (Stevie Ray Vaughan’s) signature ‘Texas Flood’ firepower.” Whether that’s true or not, demand has continued to exceed the limited supply of blackface Vibroverbs since Fender only produced them in this configuration for about one year.

This 1964 Fender Vibroverb comes from production #4 and features late 1963 and early 1964 date codes but the tube chart code indicates February of 1964. This amp is original except for a Mercury Magnetics Toneclone output transformer, filter cap replacement, three prong power cord, and a few resistors/capacitors. The original output transformer is working and included but sounds weak. The Mercury OT is a great replacement and sounds just like the original. The amp has been fully cleaned and adjusted for optimum performance and collectibility. The grill cloth has some tears that were poorly reconnected but we chose to leave them for that classic vintage look. The amp is strong and has that classic warm, thick hot blues tone.

This amp has been waiting to be brought back out of the closet since the original owner passed. We acquired this amp from his family along with a 1952 Fender Telecaster. The Telecaster was in rough shape but the Vibroverb had been stored under a cover for all its life. It shows signs of wear but doesn’t show much dirt or corrosion like many of the 60s Fender Amplifiers. This amp will be a strong part of someone’s arsenal for many years to come.
