Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Villager XII acoustic guitar in excellent, 100% original condition. With a solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides and a neck profile familiar to any vintage Fender aficionado, the Villager XII delivers a very full-bodied tone with a depth and projection that belies its bolt-on neck construction. This particular Villager sports the "tone bar" support rod in the body and comes from the very first year of production! If you want classic 1960's folk twelve string tones with the shimmer and fullness of your favorite Byrds tunes, this Villager absolutely nails it. Here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've just had this Villager XII professionally setup and restrung with fresh strings for a chimey, rich sound that's hard to beat.

The maple neck has a fairly slim C profile with a Brazilian rosewood fretboard and pearl dot inlay. Essentially the exact same neck used on the Fender Electric XII, this neck feels and plays just like an electric guitar with comfortable, low action. The stock frets retain their full, original height, showing light, uniform wear beneath frets 1-3, and fainter wear on the crowns of the plain strings until fret 5, but even this wear is extremely minor and the guitar plays well in all registers with no buzzing or dead spots. On the headstock, the original Kluson Deluxe double line tuning keys are intact, still turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The original "Fender" portion of the decal is clean and intact on the headstock, although the "Villager" text has worn away, given that these fragile decals were applied on top of the lacquer.

On the body, this Villager has the original carved Brazilian rosewood bridge base with a saddle that has plenty of height left for future adjustment. The bridge sits flush with the top and the top itself shows only a very small amount of bowing from nearly 50 years of string pull, but nothing out of the ordinary for a vintage twelve string and far less pull than most. All of the braces are still solid and intact, and the guitar is setup very well. The original gold pickguard is in great shape too. The guitar is structurally sound and shows only light cosmetic wear, with various small nicks and dings, mostly on the lower bout near the rear strap button, and some light scuffs on the back as well. There is one slender and professionally repaired crack parallel with the center seam on the top behind the bridge, and this crack has been cleanly glued and does not pose a structural issue.

Don't miss out on this classic, USA made 1960's Fender Villager!

The original Victoria Luggage hardshell case is included. The case has working latches, the original handle, and a gold plush interior. A minty Victoria Luggage label is present adjacent to the case pocket as well.
