German maker Framus is easily recognized for some of their unique design characteristics. Case in point is this mandolin with the large single “cat’s eye” sound hole, the straight non-angled peg head, the string bar, the neck bolted to the body, and the “zero fret”. Framus was among the first (if not the first) manufacturers to include the zero fret feature.
The Zero fret, combined with the bolt on neck feature, makes the action extremely playable with a narrower neck also contributing to the ease of playing.
Crafted with a solid spruce top finished in the classic “Framus orange” color, a solid maple neck, and laminate maple back and sides, the instrument is very sturdy and can stand up to a lot of wear and tear. This construction, along with its easy action and comfortability makes it an ideal instrument for some one who is just starting out on their musical journey.
This mandolin is in ultra-clean shape, with no fret wear and some deterioration decal logo on the peg head, undoubtably due to a previous owner using that area to attach a strap, as well as natural lacquer checking on the body to indicate its age. stk#VGM8068
