The original Epiphone Coronet is something of a phantom... a super cool piece of guitar history that came and went, so quick not many people have been lucky enough to see one. Well, our shop is lucky to have one and our in-house luthier Ben Frye was so taken with it that he has done a limited run of Coronet inspired guitars. They feature his custom hand wound PAF type mismatched coil Alnico 5 pickups and a solid sitka spruce body, mahogany neck, Honduran Rosewood fingerboard, and an environmentally safe thin waterborne finish. Anyone who has had work done at our shop knows that Ben can make just about anything playable and does killer fretwork so as you can imagine, his Model One plays amazing. The neck has a big chunky profile and generous 1-11/16" nut width. Each guitar is fitted with a bone nut. Spruce is commonly found as a soundboard on an acoustic so you can just imagine how it resonates as a solidbody. Great weight on these guitars too. This one is only 7 lbs and is quite well balanced.
