Description

An exquisite flamenco guitar from one of the most respected makers of classical and flamenco instruments in all of North America. German Vazquez Rubio (also known as G.V. Rubio) has created his own signature sound over the years that professional guitarists have come to love. He came to Los Angeles in the early '70s from his home in Paracho, Mexico, and began working with Bernie Rico at B.C. Rich guitars. His reputation as a builder spread quickly, and he did repairs for many of the famed local recording and performing artists. He later went to work for Art Valdez from Valdez guitars, and would make his own guitars at home to sell to the public. In the 1990s he started selling his guitars full time and still does, and he is absolutely brilliant at selecting materials and styles of construction to follow. The instrument we have here, with cypress back and sides and an extremely fine-grained spruce top, has hand-written, in ink, on its label, “Copia Marcelo Barbero 1931” and "Ex Sabicas”, along with Rubio’s signature. It is an outstanding example of the art of flamenco guitar making and stands out in every way: tonal qualities, volume, ease of playing, and of course perfection in building technique. You will not find another like this anywhere. $2995 w/hsc
