Beautiful 1960’s Giannini classical guitar made in Brazil of exotic woods!
These guitars were made in Brazil and sold through Montgomery Ward stores and catalogs in the 1960’s and indorsed by Jose Feliciano who had gained global success with his first 2 albums in the mid 60’s. An image of him playing guitar is on the label inside along with the Montgomery Ward name, the Giannini name, "Made in Brazil" and guitar's serial number.
Nearly all of these are made from Honduran mahogany. This one is made from Brazilian Koa (tiger wood) with a super exotic rosewood fretboard!.
I was told that only about one out of every 200 guitars reached Montgomery Ward in exotic woods. It seems that when the manufacturer in Brazil ran low on mahogany he used the more exotic woods to finish an order.
I just put on new nylon/silver strings, but before I did I photographed the guitars beautiful fretboard so you can see the wild wood grain. Bridge is also matching rosewood with a bone saddle.
Guitar is in excellent overall condition. The fretboard and frets are excellent as are the original all metal tuners. The guitar plays and sounds very well, but does have a tight hairline crack in the neck heel and a tight hairline on the top, lower bout bottom. They do not affect guitar at all, but I mention them for accuracy.
This beautiful and very rare vintage 60’s beauty comes with her original chipboard case (will need a new handle).

Because of the delicate nature of electronics and the possibility of parts swapping, all electric guitars are sold as is. I am not one of those people who makes it a habit of dissecting their guitars and photographing their guts: Only in a rare occasion, if the guitar merits it.
