Designed by the Gibson Custom Shop and built specifically for the Winter NAMM show in 2020, this legendary vintage-style Gibson 1958 Mahogany Flying V is an extremely faithful tribute to the original 1958 Flying V model — but instead of boasting a korina build, this version is made of mahogany and features a beautiful Walnut finish that adds a layer of class to this iconic ahead-of-its-time design.
The solid mahogany body gives you a firm and powerful tonal response, coated in a lacquer VOS finish with gold authentic 1958 aged hardware and truss rod design, along with a black headstock and pickguard. The smooth solid mahogany neck boasts an authentic chunky C-profile with an Indian rosewood fingerboard on top — a period-correct design that makes all the difference while playing. Twenty-two authentic medium jumbo frets adorn the neck, complete with pearloid dot inlays for extra elegance.
Installed in this axe is a pair of unpotted Custombucker Alnico III pickups, complete with two 500K CTS volume pots, a single 500K CTA tone pot and a hand-wired harness, as well as a three-way toggle switch for a massive plethora of gripping, action-packed tones. Follow your arrow — the absolutely stunning power and style of the Gibson Custom Shop Mahogany Flying V will take you back to the late fifties with a blaze of glory!
