2019 Gibson 1959 Les Paul 60TH Anniversary Hand Selected Aged By Tom Murphy Orange Sunset Fade

In 2019, Gibson released the 1959 Les Paul Standard 60th Anniversary Limited Edition, which, in addition to the commonly seen "VOS" and regular "Aged" versions, also included a rarer and more limited "Murphy Aged" version. This version was personally overseen by Gibson's legendary master Tom Murphy, with all the guitar's bumps, scratches, and cracks aged to create a natural overall feel that resembles the wear and tear caused by time.

The guitar was made with the higher Hand Selected limited edition specification and the popular "True Historic" series serving as the basis for its production. The wood was carefully selected for its weight, grain, and other factors, and both the top and body were strictly chosen by the Gibson Custom Shop department and agents, with a "Hand Selected" certificate included with the guitar. The guitar also features a specially selected 5A-grade super maple veneer that looks flawless from any angle. The pair of unpotted Custombucker Alnico III pickups by Gibson are closer in sound to the classic PAF pickups, and the Luxe handmade capacitors provide a more vintage sound that better replicates the guitar's original tone.

Since Gibson officially launched the "Murphy Lab" series in 2021, guitars aged by Murphy have become highly sought after and are quite rare in the market. These guitars are not comparable to other Custom Aged guitars in terms of the level of aging detail and value. Moreover, this guitar is a Hand Selected special 60th anniversary commemorative edition, making it even more valuable for collectors.
