In 1960, Gibson Les Paul sales were waning and in the following year, the Les Paul model was given a totally new design with a thinner, more contoured body and a double cutaway. Les Paul did not care for the new modern design and he was also dealing with a lot of personal issues at the time which led him to end his signature endorsement with Gibson. Paul's name was removed in 1963, and the model was renamed the SG (Solid Guitar).
If you can't afford an actual first-year Les Paul/SG model from 1961, we think this '61 reissue is a great alternative. A well made guitar in its own right, this reissue will give you the look, feel, and features of the original at a fraction of the cost.
Freshly set up in-house by our esteemed Guitar Tech, this Les Paul/SG is dialed in and ready to rock. Comes with hard shell case.
