Here’s a wonderful sounding, extremely rare mandolin from Gibson's most desirable period - an early 1925 Loar-era A-4 “snakehead" with adjustable truss rod, original pick guard, tailpiece and rarely-seen natural finish.
This example has a highly figured rare chocolate brown one-piece maple back and natural finished spruce top that has aged to the highly desirable “pumpkin” color.
This exceptionally clean example probably has a professionally replaced fingerboard and refinished neck and headstock. Other than some pick wear, this A-4 is in great shape and plays like a dream with a slender neck.
$6500 with original hard shell case
