Description

Summary: A classic vintage mandolin from the golden age of American instrument building.

Body: Symmetrical A style shape. Ivoroid bound arched spruce top. Inlaid rosette and bound oval sound hole. Arched back. Black finish on top; dark stain on back, sides and neck.

Neck: V-shaped mahogany. Ivoroid bound ebony fretboard with pearl dot fret markers.

Pickups/Hardware: Ebony bridge. 4 in a line open back strip tuners. Ebony bridge. “The Gibson” engraved on tailpiece and inlaid on headstock. Fleur-de-lis headstock inlay. Inlaid tuner buttons.

Cosmetics: There is general playwear and signs of age—worn spots, minor dings, finish crazing, tarnish on the tail piece—but the instrument is structurally sound. There is some binding separation at the heel of the fretboard.

Playability: The neck is straight and action is low. This mandolin plays great and sounds like it should—bright and ringing classic tone.

Weight: 1 lb, 8 oz.

Case: Original hard shell.
