1967 Gibson B-45-12

Excellent condition featuring square shouldered dreadnought body shape, solid mahogany back and sides with dark stain finish, solid Sitka spruce top with sunburst finish, multi-bound top, single bound back body edges, single ply elongated tortoiseshell grain pickguard, trapeze tailpiece, Brazilian rosewood bridge with adjustable rosewood saddle, set mahogany neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays starting at the third fret, original bone nut, elongated Gibson open book peghead shape with black peghead face, gold Gibson logo, decorative pearl split diamond inlay, single ply black plastic bell shaped truss rod cover, six per side in a line Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with white plastic oval shaped buttons, white plastic end pin and original black soft shell case with red plush interior.

This B-45 12 string is in excellent cosmetic condition and has been well taken care of. There are only the slightest signs of wear throughout and overall this is the cleanest example that we have encountered in years. There is one small ding on the tip of the peghead, some very slight finish checking and the normal pickguard crack that occurs when the guard begins to shrink (it is very small and stable). I have photographed all of these flaws. The frets are in excellent condition. This instrument has just been set up and plays tremendous up and down the fingerboard with low action and good intonation. The neck angle is optimal, the neck is straight, and the ADJ bridge works perfectly as does the truss rod. The original soft case is included, but was stored improperly and has a lingering smell from exposure to moisture. We'd be happy to include a nice new TKL padded gig bag as well.

This B-45-12 is a folksinger’s dream 12 string. The tailpiece set up makes for quite a mellow tone that makes this guitar a great instrument for accompanying vocals. Similarly, this 12 string works very well with other acoustic guitars as its controlled volume and sustain keep it from overpowering its 6 string counterparts. These characteristics also make this example a great choice for recording as it is well more controllable on mic than a loud and booming 12 string would be. This is my personal choice of 12 string guitar model and I enjoy using mine a great deal. If you are looking for a D size 12 string that won’t overpower your voice or other instruments, this B45-12 is a great option.
