Description

In the very early 1960s, the the folk boom spiraling outward into pop-culture, Gibson jumped aboard the 12-string bandwagon. The B45-12 was essentially the J-45 jumbo body with a 12-string neck, and the 'N' serving as the 'natural' finish option.

This example dates to 1967, based on the tuners and pick guard material, although this serial number was also used in 1963. The back and sides are mahogany, with a spruce top. Fingerboard and bridge are Brazilian rosewood. There is a typical Gibson truss rod installed in the neck. The fingerboard is 2" across at the nut and string spacing is 2 5/16" across at the saddle, with a flat 'C' neck profile.

The guitar is all original, and in excellent condition. The only repair to report is a small crack in the top along the fingerboard extension, treble side. Otherwise, the guitar shows minimal nicks, and almost no play wear on the top or fingerboard, only some mild finish checking which if typical of Gibbons. As clean and complete an example as we've seen.

The action is low and the guitar plays easily. When picked, it's quite loud, with good projection; strong in the treble and mid-range, and jangly .. perfect for 60s era folk playing. The guitar retains its likely original hard case in good condition. Please visit our website for additional photos.
