Description

This Gibson “Banner” Southern Jumbo has been around since the 1940s and has the battle scars to prove it. But as is often the case, the guitars that get played the most end up being the best sounding guitars. And this Banner sounds truly glorious. Super responsive and well balanced, this is a guitar player’s guitar.

There is a long crack running down the entire treble side (see picture) that has been well cleated and glued. We didn’t do the repair but we’ve inspected it closely and find it to be completely stable. There is plenty of play wear including typical pick wear around the soundhole and pickguard which we often see on vintage guitars that were players rather than case queens. Original finish still looks beautiful despite the play wear.

This is one of the best sounding Banner SJs we’ve come across. We’d love to keep it, but we’re in the business of selling guitars we have to remind ourselves, so our loss is your gain. We’d be happy to hook you up with a guitar that you will treasure for years and that will inspire you and those you perform for.

Original tuners. Has a new bone nut and saddle. The guitar was nicely refretted at some point and the frets remain in very good condition. The fingerboard and inlays are clean and vibrant. The overall appearance of the guitar is quite good. Comes with a newer Hardshell Case.
