Description

This 2000 Gibson Les Paul 1959 Reissue serial number 9 0545 is in very good condition. The neck was reshaped from a fat 1959 stylee to a thinner almost 1960 stylee by Ed Foley. The finish work on the neck is so good you would think it was done at the factory. So you get the flame of a '59 with the neck of a '60. The frets were Plek'd by Peekamoose. This is a great player and has been played, not abused but showing normal wear and tear for a 15 year old gigged guitar.
The Gibson Les Paul Standard model from 1959 is coveted by both players and collectors as the ultimate example of tradition, playability and tone; the iconic 1959 Les Paul Standard simply has no equal. The Les Paul Model became the “Standard” in July 1958 after company president Ted McCarty and a small circle of advisors decided to alter the designation.  They also wisely chose to introduce a variety of “Burst” finishes. This lovely “Washed Cherry Sunburst,” allows the natural beauty of the maple top to be showcased. The original production numbers were small, Gibson shipped only 434 sunburst Standards in 1958, 643 in 1959 and 635 in 1960. Sensing that there might be good demand for the guitar that they had produced so few of, in 1983 Gibson began the first of many Les Paul Reissue instruments.
This 1959 Reissue weighs in at 8.8 lbs. The nut width is 1 5/8”, the profile at the first fret is .860” and the profile at the 12th fret is .930”. This is a beautiful guitar with a meticulous custom neck profile and Plek-perfection in the fret finishing. Own a truly “special” Les Paul that you can both cherish and play.
Original hard shell case included.

***Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
**This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.
*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.
