Description

This 2006 Gibson SG Special serial number 007760370 is in very good condition, neck and frets are fine with no issues. Cosmetically the instrument shows some playing wear; mostly pick marks and some belt rash on the back, not much in the way of chips or nicks.

Featuring a solid mahogany body and neck, the SG Special utilizes a 50s’ rounded neck profile, has a nut width of 1 21/32” and a 22 fret unbound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Uncovered Gibson 490R and 490T pickups, tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tail piece, Gibson Deluxe Kluson style tuners along with two volume/two tone controls, pickup selector switch and a nitrocellulose finish complete the package.

Essentially the SG Special is a no nonsense, stripped down SG Standard, lose the bindings, headstock inlay, and pickup covers and change to simpler dot position markers.

Are you are itching to rock with no superfluous frills to get in the way? The SG Special is ready to take you there. When the SG replaced the single-cutaway Les Paul in the Gibson catalog in 1961, the change ushered in a new rock icon even if the world didn't quite know it yet. Through the course of the coming decade the SG would become a favorite of rock, blues, and fusion players. By the time the single-cutaway Les Paul Standard returned to the fold later in the 60s’ to reclaim its own hold on the guitar world, the SG had established itself as an iconic axe for straight-ahead rockers, making a major noise in the hands of Pete Townshend, Robby Krieger, Eric Clapton, Duane Allman and several others. As the stripped-down sibling of the SG Standard, the SG Special has always been a favorite of no-nonsense rock & rollers.

This is a very comfortable guitar to play weighing in at 6.6 lbs. Fast neck, great sound, made in USA, nice price!

Gig bag included.

***Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
**This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.
*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.
