This is an incredible custom order Gibson Byrdland that shipped from Kalamazoo to “Turner Music” in Toronto on March 17, 1960. It has a custom ordered cherry red finish that is documented in the Gibson ledger (picture included). The guitar shows some light play wear but is in overall very good shape with no structural damage. This guitar appears to be 100% original. It has a PAF in the neck position and a Patent sticker pickup in the bridge position. 1960 is extremely early for a Patent sticker pickup but all of the solder looks original and after some online research we have learned that there are several other documented Byrdlands and ES-350s from 1960 that have patent sticker pickups so we believe this is one such example. The guitar sounds incredible and plays great. It is a fantastic and unique example from Gibson’s golden era. PAG equipped Byrdlands are rare and there can’t be more than a handful with a custom finish. This guitar comes with the case in the picture which was described as original by the previous owner. It doesn’t conform to a normal Gibson case from 1960, but as this guitar was an export it is possible it got some sort of different export case – or possible that it is an older non original case that has been with the instrument for a long time.
