Description

Offered here is a near mint and very light 2016 '58 Les Paul with a contoured neck heel. Gibson calls this model an 'LPR8S'. Originally designed with and for Neal Schon, the contoured neck heel makes upper fret access much more comfortable and seems to be appearing on an increasing number of LP models. As a 2016 model, it also has all the production improvements Gibson has implemented since 2013.

This gorgeous piece has an Ice Tea Burst finish with very nice flame in the top and a factory-applied VOS patina. It weighs just 8.2 pounds (8 pounds, 3 ounces) and is nicely balanced. The neck is nice and chunky, but just below average in size for a '58 LP, with depth measurements of .90" at the first fret and 1.03" at the twelfth fret. The tone of the Alnico III zebra Custom Bucker pickups is woody, fat and clear with just the right output level. The playability of this beauty is sure to please.

This guitar is in near mint condition with only a few hours of play on it and only the slightest evidence of play on the pickguard. The frets show no observable wear. It comes in it's original brown Lifton-style reproduction case, with the certificate of authenticity and all the other paperwork.

Like the chambered version of this model that we also have in stock, this is the kind of LP most working musicians would want to take to the stage each night; one that is very light in weight, sounds great, looks fabulous and is particularly easy to play.
