The 2007 SG Special I had in stock a few weeks back sounded and played so nice and sold so quickly that I went out and obtained another for our inventory. I've been a huge fan of this model since the first time I watched a video of Santana's 1969 Woodstock performance. The fabulous drive tone that Carlos was able to coax out of his amp with those P-90 pickups is a sound that remains with me to this day. Offered here is another superb reissue of the original model, this one built in the Gibson Custom Shop in 2009. With it's thinly proportioned solid body and neck both made of mahogany, this guitar weighs just 6.4 pounds. The neck has a relatively wide 60's C-shape, with depth measurements of .840" at the first fret, .940" at the twelfth, a 12" radius, 1.6875" wide nut and big "banjo" frets. It has a very simple, wrap around aluminum bridge piece with compensating notches for proper intonation. The P-90 pickups and the raw tones they generate are legendary. In the words of the original owner, "..this guitar plays like a hot knife through butter" and he wasn't kidding, this one is a player! As a VOS model this has Gibson's light aging treatment along with some honest play and handling wear and a few tiny indentations here and there, but no serious flaws as these photos will attest to. More importantly, the frets are in superb condition. It comes in it's original Gibson Custom case along with the Certificate of Authenticity. This beauty looks, feels and sounds like a vintage SG, but with playability that is far superior to most any vintage SG. Want a great Gibby SG? Here ya go!
