Many decades ago (ugh!), a 1969 Gibson SG was my first humbucker guitar and one of the primary gigging instruments of my youth. Back then I was looking for the Gibson sound to compliment my Tele, but even then I couldn't deal with the weight and lousy balance that came with the Les Paul Standards of that era. To this day, the SG remains a guitar that evokes many positive memories for me and remains a model that I am quite fond of.

Offered here is a superb 2012 Gibson Custom Shop Reissue of a 1960 era SG Standard. This all-Mahogany guitar is extremely light, weighing just 5 pounds, 15 ounces. The relatively wide SG neck has a 60's C-shape, with depth measurements of .840" at the first fret, increasing to .920" at the twelfth fret and it feels great! It has a 1.70" nut width. The original owner of this guitar replaced the standard Gibson electronics with a set of Wolfetone Legend humbuckers and a full wiring harness by RS Guitar Works. The original Burstbucker pickups and wiring harness are included should you wish to take the guitar back to stock.

This is a superb sounding and playing SG. The tone is fat and woody with a sweet Allman Brothers vibe. Please check out the brief sound sample provided and I trust you will agree. It plays great too and it stays in tune!

As a VOS format guitar, this instrument received very light aging at the factory consisting of a light patina added to the finish and hardware and remains in excellent condition. The only flaws are some very light play marks on the pickguard. The frets remain in great condition. It comes in it's original hardshell case, also in great condition, along with the certificate of authenticity and hang tags.

Dealers are asking almost $5K for new SG's these days, but this lightly played 2012 example with it's $400 in upgrades can be yours for about half that. Make this beautiful Custom Shop SG yours today. You will be very glad you did!
