If a vintage-style, take no prisoners, rock and roll machine is what you've been looking for, then please check out this guitar. Offered is this Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut built in 2017 and upgraded with an adjustable wrap-around bridge.
This recreation of Gibson's late 50's LP Special DC has a solid Mahogany body and a one-piece Mahogany neck which is attached to the body via a long neck tenon for maximum resonance and tone. It has a 24-3/4" scale length neck which has a 60's C shape which on this instrument is .825" deep at the 1st fret and .925" deep at the 12th fret. The Indian Rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius, medium/jumbo frets, MOP dot inlays and a 1.6875" nut. It has vintage style ivoroid button tuners. The electronics include Gibson Custom P-90's, CTS pots and bumble bee caps along with a traditional Les Paul control setup (2V, 2T, 3-way). This example is finished in a more expensive to build TV Yellow gloss finish, rather than the more common VOS finish. This beautiful instrument weighs just 7 pounds, 7 ounces.
One complaint that players often express about guitars with old-style wrap-around bridges is limited intonation capabilities. To address this issue, this guitar has been upgraded with a Pigtail intonatable wrap- around bridge. This bridge gives each string it's own adjustable saddle while retaining the great resonance that wraptail bridges are known for. The original Gibson wrap-around bridge and studs are included in the case.
This guitar is a joy to play and to hear. The setup is nice and low and buzz free. The neck is a nice slim to medium C which should appeal to most players and the guitar's light weight make it an instrument you can play all night. The Gibson P-90's have a tone that is bred for Rock & Roll. Check out the brief sound sample provided for a taste.
This guitar is "excellent minus" condition. You will find some light pick scuffs on the beveled pickguard and some scuffing on the backplate. You will also find a few impressions on the top of the guitar right behind the Pigtail bridge and a few flaws on the bridge hardware itself. Photos are included of these flaws. The guitar is otherwise in superb condition, frets included. It comes in it's original Gibson Custom Lifton-style brown/pink case, along with the certificate of authenticity and the original Gibson wrap-around bridge hardware.
This is a great Gibby made much better by the upgraded bridge. Make this Rock & Roll machine yours!
