2008 Gibson Custom Shop Lee Ritenour 1961 ES-335 AGED & SIGNED! Cherry Red Dot Neck Reissue Inspired By

2008 Gibson Lee Ritenour ES-335 Aged and Signed!

Here is a great and rarely seen Gibson Custom Shop Lee Ritenour Signature Model ES-335. This guitar is based on Lee's 1961 Gibson ES-335. The guitar plays very well and sounds quite nice. The guitar appears to be pretty much unplayed with no fret wear or additional wear to be found. It is an aged guitar but we've closely examined the guitar and are confident it's a very clean collector-grade guitar. The guitar comes with the original matching case, COA, and all the case candy as shown.

Gibson Description from 2008:

Once in a generation, a jazz guitarist comes along, who--no matter what music style you're a fan of--makes you sit up and take notice. That player is Lee Ritenour. Lee's signature sound is Gibson. Nominated for a GRAMMY 17 times, you don't get to his level without knowing your chops. And knowing your guitar! Lee's guitar is a Gibson ES-335.

To celebrate this long-term relationship with Lee, Gibson has announced the availability of a special limited run Lee Ritenour signature model. A production run of only 50 guitars personally autographed by Lee, and 100 unsigned versions will be made for world-wide distribution!

The guitar is a Gibson ES-335--without question, the most flexible application instrument in the Gibson line up. No matter whether you play rock, country, blues, pop, or jazz, the ES-335 does it and does it well.

Let's start with the 335. This guitar's famous multi-ply maple body utilizes a soft maple center block for added sustain and tone, and reduced feedback. The pickups are Gibson's '57 Classics--Gibson's most popular pickup. The neck is one-piece mahogany, with a thin, Lee Ritenour profile that's faster and more tapered than other production ES-335 models. Nickel Nashville Tune-o-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece are the same as the 335s of the '60s. The machine heads are nickel Grovers with kidney buttons. All of the nickel hardware is slightly aged for that played-in look and feel.

The finish is a gorgeous VOS (Vintage Original Spec) antique faded cherry with a super thin, nitrocellulose lacquer in a soft patina. The Lee Ritenour Aged and Signed ES-335 is aged by the Gibson Custom Shop artisans with the lacquer checking, dings, and a few other sweet features to more meticulously re-create Lee Ritenour's original axe. The guitar includes a custom formfitting signature case and a special "Inspired By" Certificate of Authenticity.
