1968 DOVE Cherry Sunburst
DOVE, a square-shouldered dreadnought body, was introduced by Gibson in 1962.
Its style was followed by Hummingbird.
Very different from the Hummingbird, the maple body has a clear and crisp sound.
The looks of the Hummingbird are highlighted by the dove-shaped MOP inlays on the bridge and pickguard, and the double parallelogram inlays on the fretboard.
Notable musicians such as Emmylou Harris and KT Tunstall have held Dove in their hands and spoken of its rich sound and ease of use. With its beautiful appearance, well-balanced sound, and solid construction, the Dove is still treasured as a special piece by many guitar players and collectors.
The Dove Cherry Sunburst is a 1968 Dove Cherry Sunburst.
This guitar features many minor changes such as cherry sunburst paint, tom type bridge saddle, PG with screw closure, and narrow neck.
The internal bracing has also been improved in terms of durability, but at the time, it was unpopular with the public because of its "poor tone" in combination with the TOM bridge.
From a modern perspective, the sound is certainly different from that of the first half of the DOVE period, but it is not a superior or inferior instrument.
The crisp and clear sound of the maple body is further enhanced by the TOM bridge, giving it a tonal character that cannot be experienced on other models.
There is only one crack repair on the top of the body, and the head has a large paint peel, but the entire body is in clean condition for this age.
