Impressive model with refinish and stately appearance.
In 1961, the specifications were changed from the single-cutaway Les Paul model to a one-piece Les Paul model with a deep, sharp double cutaway and a thin mahogany body. The name itself was changed to SG (abbreviation of Solid Guitar). The single-cutaway Les Paul was later revived, but the SG remained a long-selling guitar that is still on the market today. It is one of the masterpieces produced by Gibson, which has captivated many legendary musicians such as Pete Townsend, Angus Young, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and many others who have loved it.
This SG has lost its serial number due to refinishing, but it has a wide neck and a 17-degree head angle, a specification that dates back to around 1964. The refinish has been done very well and has the look and feel of a real vintage. The DiMaggio PAF 59 pickups are used for a beautiful and nuanced sound. The sound of the thin mahogany body is tight, but with the sweetness of mahogany and the richness of the vintage overtone structure.
