Description

You won’t see many of these, and we’re certainly proud to have this all-original 1966 Gibson EB-2 special ordered in Black! While the EB-2 was Gibson’s second electric bass (the follow-up to the violin-shaped EB-1 from 1953) the EB-2 was indeed Gibson’s first semi-hollow electric bass. The EB-2 became a staple in many British Invasion bands throughout the 1960s. This particular bass was a custom order in Black with an ebony fretboard and ES-355 style binding. Truly, we haven’t come across another like it! This bass is a stellar custom example, and it’s pretty clean too! One would expect a mudbucker pickup to read in the 30K range, but this example gives off a particularly high reading in the 150k range. While we are not entirely sure of the cause of this reading, our tech has thoroughly inspected this original pickup, and confirmed everything functions and sounds completely normal.

Overall Condition: 9, some very light wear on the headstock, light checking throughout
