Description

Here’s a 50 year old Gibson EB-2 bass from 1968 which has been professionally routed and rewired to add a Seymour Duncan Jazz-style pickup in the bridge position along with a toggle switch for pickup selection. Sonically it was a good choice as the Seymour Duncan pickup gives you modern tonal capabilities in this otherwise vintage bass, but for the serious collector it makes the guitar less desirable. Having said that, it also lowers the price putting this squarely in player-grade territory.

Beautiful sunburst finish on double bound body with light checking and rich vibrant color. No cracks or breaks to be found. The sleek 30 inch short-scale neck is totally clean minus a couple of small chips near the thirteenth fret. Nice rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dots and original frets with some wear but still ringing clean. Cool original Gibson string mute lever.

Original pickguard with Gibson logo (1968 was the only year Gibson did this). Original tuners working fine. Remarkably clean headstock overlay with just a few edge chips. Except for the added pickup, this 50 year old Gibson is in very good to excellent vintage condition. It’s a real beauty and a joy to play. If you’ve always wanted to rock an EB-2 but couldn’t deal with the single humbucker sound, here’s your opportunity to fulfill that desire. You’re welcome.
