Description

This 1969 Gibson EBS-1250 comes in its original Cherry finish. Each of these double necks was custom-built to order, and as a result, many fewer were made compared to other Gibson models. Of all the double-necks Gibson offered, the EBS-1250 was the most scarce, with shipping totals barely over 20 from 1958 to 1968. While the model was no longer advertised after 1968, we have seen multiple examples from the following years that suggest these could still be custom ordered. That makes sense for this guitar, as the Cherry finish would not have been standard for this model. The catalog advertised Sunburst, White, or Jet Black finishes available for these double-necks. The most notable EBS-1250 player is likely Elvis Presley, who famously used one in the 1966 film Spinout. This one is similar to that guitar, though Elvis’s features a six-string bass and trem on the guitar. All four of these original humbucking pickups sound fantastic, with incredible clarity and a strong tone. As a personal touch, this guitar’s previous owner engraved the name “R.L. Gault” into the guitar side tailpiece and 5th fret fingerboard area on the bass neck.
