Description

The Gibson EC-10 Standard is a Jumbo-style guitar with a solid Sitka spruce top, solid maple sides, and an arched maple back; it is configured with a soft cutaway thinline body and includes factory electronics. Gibson introduced the line in 1997 only to close it out the next year, so this is a relatively rare model. This particular instrument’s serial number (92337023) indicates it was made in the Bozeman, Montana, plant on the 233rd day of 1997, and was the 23rd instrument made that day. The high gloss Ebony finish makes it the center of attention, and its playability will quickly make it your favorite.

The EC-10 has a 14/20-fret rosewood finger board with pearl dot inlay, a “batwing” black pick guard, a beautiful abalone inlaid rosette, a rosewood mustache bridge with bone-colored pins, and full black-and-white body binding, top and back. It has three-per-side chrome tuners, and a screened logo on the blackface Gibson headstock. It is clearly designed to be an eye-catching performance guitar with the quality materials and huge sound for which Gibsons have been famous for decades. And of course that sound can be cranked up just by plugging in through the end pin jack.

Cosmetically, this guitar is almost spotless, with very few nicks and dings, except for a repaired crack near the bass edge of the top lower bout. This crack has been professionally cleated and glued, so it’s hard to see but easy to feel (if anyone happens to run his hand over the top of your guitar). Regardless, this ol’ boy now is set up at a fast and comfortable 3/32” at the 12th fret low E, and it looks, sounds, and plays great and is ready to go.

The included near new hard shell case is obviously not original with this guitar, but it is solid as a rock with a black plush interior which is in excellent shape. The outside is clean, the hardware all works (including the key), and it fits the instrument extremely well. It offers great protection to this fine guitar.

Buyer pays a flat rate of $55 for insurance and shipping to the lower forty-eight states; shipping costs elsewhere will be negotiated as necessary. Payment by Paypal is preferred; cashier’s checks are acceptable, but checks must clear before the guitar will be shipped.

I have tried to be perfectly clear and accurate in describing this unique instrument and its case, so its return will not be accepted unless it can be shown that it was egregiously misrepresented in this listing. Please check out the pictures and ask any questions you might have before offering to buy it.

Thank you for your interest in this cool guitar.

Payments by Paypal, cashier’s checks, money orders, or personal checks are acceptable, but all payments must clear my bank before the guitar will be shipped. I will CONSIDER reasonable offers, even including installment payments and trade-ins, but generally since I already attempt to price my guitars very competitively, unusual deals must be unusually sweet.

From henceforth [that's how retired English teachers talk], insurance and shipping to the lower 48 states is $55 due to constantly rising shipping costs unless a specific listing says otherwise; shipping costs elsewhere will be negotiated as necessary. I have sold guitars to Russia, Japan, Australia, and over 50 other countries, as well as almost every state in the USA. Since some of my guitars travel thousands of miles, I take care to use lots of packing materials, protect the neck inside the case, and of course de-tune the strings.

I make every effort to describe and illustrate each guitar and case with scrupulous accuracy. However, many of my instruments are well-played vintage items which are many years old, and I am not a luthier. One should assume that any guitar will require some set-up to satisfy your personal requirements, and that not every flaw or ding will be seen/recognized/described in the listing. Thus the return of an instrument will not be accepted unless it can be shown that it was egregiously misrepresented in this listing. Please read the listing carefully, check out the pictures, and ask any questions you might have before offering to buy.
