1954 Gibson EM-200 is in excellent condition, perfect playing order, and comes with the original hardcase. It came to us without the tailpiece cover.
A solid body, electric, double-cutaway mandolin that's built like a Les Paul. Not something one sees everyday! In fact, this is quite the rare piece!
Bound/carved maple top, mahogany body, set mahogany neck, bound rosewood fretboard, bone nut, tobacco sunburst finish, and adorned in gold hardcase. It's equipped with a mini P90 and a volume and tone control.
At some point it was converted lefty, then later put back to it's correct orientation. Consequently, there's a hole on the inside edge of the treble side cutaway where a strap button was previously installed. Thankfully the original nut was not modified to accommodate a left handed player, it was taken off while it was left handed, and the original nut was reinstalled. Otherwise, it's all original!
When it came to us, miniature scroll/horn on the bass side of the headstock was broken off. So we took it to our local luthier, Paul Stroh, and had him work his magic to graft on a new piece of wood, finish match, and put on a new piece of headstock veneer to match the rest of the headstock. On the top, around the volume and tone controls, are a couple finish touch up spots. The back of the body has honest-playing character marks, including some finish chipping on the edge of the body near the output jack. The frets have some where in the first couple positions, but is overall very minor.
Has a 1 3/8" nut width, a 13 3/4" scale length, and weighs 4 pounds 11 ounces.
