Summary: With a fully hollow body and sharp Florentine cutaway, the Gibson ES-175 stands out as an all-time iconic jazz guitar. The ES-175 has seen some variation over the years, with different pickup and hardware configurations coming in and out of the Gibson lineup. Although the ES-175 is noted as a jazz guitar, it has also been embraced by rock players like Yes' Steve Howe who has a signature model. The natural finished 175 with one patent sticker pickup is the rarest of its kind, but this rare piece of history is not just a wall hanger. It plays with ease and has a satisfying attack, while the pickup delivers an articulate, round, smooth deliberate sound that you cannot emulate with anything but a vintage Gibson. This guitar is from a single owner who kept great care of it, it ships in its original brown Lifton tolex case.

Body: Classic fully hollow archtop electric guitar with a single cutaway. This guitar features a laminated maple top, back & sides and a beautiful natural finish that shows all the wood grain.

Neck: 3 piece mahogany neck with a solid rosewood bound fingerboard with dual-parallelogram mother of pearl fingerboard inlays. Scale length: 24 3/4". Nut Width: 1 11/16". This guitar also has the original Kluson Deluxe Keystone tuning keys.

Pickups/Hardware: Nickle hardware with 1 patent sticker humbucker pickup, one volume knob, one tone knob, trapeze style tailpiece, compensated rosewood bridge and 5 ply b/w/b/w/b pickguard.

Cosmetics: The finish on this Gibson has been yellowed throughout the years giving it a nice vintage tint all around. There is also a fair amount of finish checking around the instrument. The frets have recently been leveled, crowned and polished and have plenty of life left in them. There are no major dings dents or scratches to mention but just a couple minor nicks and dings consistent with a guitar of its age. There is one spot on the cutaway where the finish is a slightly different tint from the rest.

Playability: Since this guitar has just had its frets leveled, crowned and polished- it plays like a dream, the action is low and the neck is straight. We have just strung it up with a new set of 10’s and it sounds amazing.

Mods/Repairs: There has been a small repair on the cutaway where the side was coming away a bit but has been glued back down.

Weight: 5 lbs, 13 oz.

Case: This rare Gibson ships in its original Lifton hard shell case. The case is in great shape and functions perfectly.
