1959 Gibson ES-225 Vintage Sunburst with Original Lifton Hardshell Case

Summary: It is very rare to see a guitar from the 50s in this great shape! There are no breaks, cracks or major blemished to mention. The original pickups sound phenomenal and the original tailpiece/bridge has been replaced with a much more functional trapeze tailpiece and floating bridge. This rarity has just been inspected, set up and restrung with a new set of 11 gauge strings and it plays beautifully with low action, straight neck and plenty of life in the original frets. It will ship in its original Lifton hard-shell case with pink plush interior.

Body: Laminated maple, thin hollow-body archtop with rich sunburst finish, f-holes and single Florentine cutaway.

Neck: The mahogany neck has an extremely comfortable profile, not too thick but certainly full enough to fill the palm, bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, pearl dots, nylon nut, 1 11/16” nut width and 24 ¾” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: 2 original dog ear P90 pickups, 3 way toggle switch, 2 volumes, 2 tones, original white button Kluson tuning keys, rosewood floating bridge, trapeze tailpiece and original b/w/b pickguard.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in stellar shape. The finish has some fine weather checking, a handful of dings around the edges and top, some very slight buckle rash and some chips in the finish around the headstock overlay. Overall this Gibson is in the sort or condition that collectors hope to obtain.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has just inspected, setup and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functioning and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with very minor grooves and divots from normal use and it plays beautifully up and down the fingerboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Modifications: The original long tailpiece/bridge was replaced with a much more functional and playable trapeze tailpiece and floating bridge.
