Offered for sale;
1956 Gibson ES-225T serial number V 7719 1.
This guitar is in very good condition, a pro refret has been performed and the Gibson case is non original. Aside from that, this guitar is totally straight.
Introduced in 1955 and produced until 1959, the ES225-T is a thinline hollowbody featuring a Florentine cutaway, combined bridge/tailpiece, laminated pickguard and a single P-90 pickup.
What a musical guitar. Even with the thin body it is alive unplugged. The middle P-90 has a wonderful tone compared with a neck P-90. It's a bit like a large vs a mini humbucker or a dreadnaught vs a 000 acoustic. There is a definition and clarity that is unique to this pickup placement.
And don't let that wrap around trapeze bridge fool you. Unlike the first Les Paul’s, here the strings go over the top of the bar (like the ES-295) making it quite playable.
The ES-225T (single pickup) was the first thinline Gibson which created a lineage to the ES-225TD, ES-350 and Byrdland.
Own a beautiful instrument that is as much a joy to play as it is a significant piece of electric guitar history.
Non original Gibson hard shell case included.
*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.
